Congratulations to Prof. Bhandarkar for receiving a US patent on virtual surgical systems and methods based on his research. Dr. Tollner from engineering is a co-inventor on the patent.

UGA, through the efforts of Prof. Taha, is selected by NVidia as a 2011-2012 CUDA Teaching Center. NVidia will donate high-performance GPUs and partially fund a TA for teaching CUDA C/C++ programming.

UGA's Red and Black student newspaper features CSCI 4530/6530 (taught by Prof. Potter) and CSCI 4550/6550 (taught by Prof. Doshi) in its quirky curriculum series.

CSCI 2150 will be offered in Spring 2012. This course is computationally oriented and designed for students in physical and biological Sciences, engineering, and business. Roberto Perdisci is a new faculty in the CS department. more...

Prof. Perdisci graduated from the University of Cagliari, Italy, and spent the last two years of his doctoral studies at Georgia Tech where he worked as a research scholar under the supervision of Prof. Wenke Lee. Afterwards, he joined Damballa, Inc., where he worked as Principal Scientist for about two years, and then joined Georgia Tech as a postdoctoral fellow.

Prof. Perdisci's main research interests are in computer and network security, and in the application of pattern recognition and data mining techniques to develop innovative network security applications. He authored several papers that appeared in both the computer security and pattern recognition/data mining communities. In collaboration with Damballa and Georgia Tech, he developed a number of network-based malware detection systems, and authored three US patent applications.
