CSCI 4800/6800
Project 4: Grad Student Presentations on Topics in HCI
100 points
This assignment applies only to those students registered for the 6800
version of this course. It involves the preparation of a 20 minute
(or so) presentation on a topic in HCI that is of interest to the student and
that will be informative to the class. Presentations will be given on
Wednesday, April 19th and Wednesday, April 26th. The topic should
be selected and approved by EK by Wednesday, April 12th.
Topics to choose from -- or design your own topic
We'd like to focus the presentations on the new and interesting elements of
human-computer interaction. A good source of topics can be found at the
CHI2006 (Computer Human Interaction) Conference Program listing for the
Best of CHI nominees
and winners listing.
The CHI conference is "the leading international forum for the
exchange of ideas and information about human-computer interaction (HCI)."
You'll need to do some background research on your topic, and then
prepare a lively and interesting 20 minute presentation on your
selected topic, and make the slides available to the class.
I've started by searching on some of the authors listed on that page
and locating some of the papers (Isn't google great!). You can do the same
for other papers listed, if you like. Here are the ones that I found:
If sample slides or papers are available at the author's website, you
should download them and read them. A good source for location such
papers, once you've identified them or the author is
citeseer .
Your presentation should be a synthesis of all these materials (don't just
download and read to us the author's presentation).
