Robert Robinson earned his PhD at Cornell in Mathematics in 1966. After a postdoctoral year at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton under the aegis of Kurt Gödel he has held academic appointments at U. C. Berkeley, U. of Michigan, Newcastle U. (in Australia), and Southern Illinois U. In 1984 he moved to UGA and served as Head of the Computer Science Department until 1993.
