School of Computing Students Shine at Avant South’s Innovation Cup This past week, students from the School of Computing shone at Avant South’s Innovation Cup. Arjun Sakthi, Hadiza Sarr, and Matthew Mocklin, alongside their Georgia Tech teammate, developed Tera—a human-led, AI-assisted travel platform that connects tourists and residents with verified local hosts for authentic travel experiences. Computer Science Mentor Panel On October 21st, the School of Computing will host an engaging panel discussion featuring accomplished professionals in the industrial computing field, all of whom are UGA alumni. This event will allow students to make valuable connections, gain insights into career paths from the speakers themselves, hear about various industry experiences, and receive practical advice for navigating the world of computer science after college. Area of Emphasis in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Provides Preparation Similar to Emerging AI Degrees UGA Computer Science now offers an approved Area of Emphasis in Artificial Intelligence as part of the Computer Science degree, designed to support preparation in the rapidly growing field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Building on the core foundations of Computer Science, students will be able to take 5-6 classes specifically in Artificial Intelligence. In all, this provides preparation close to the emerging Artificial Intelligence Degrees in various Universities.
